Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is your school accredited?    Yes, OCS is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International and is therefore fully recognized by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

  • Are your teachers certified?   Yes, OCS teachers are certified by the ACSI and all must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four year college/ university.

  • What size are your classes?   The average classroom size from grades 1-12 is approximately 20 students per class.

  • Do OCS graduates have trouble getting into college?   OCS students are typically highly recruited by major colleges and universities. OCS students continue to score high on college entrance exams (ACT & SAT) and thus have a high success rate of getting into their college of choice.

  • How do you decide who gets accepted?   Students are accepted who meet the admission criteria. The admission committee presently consists of the principal, admission director and advisory members that meet to evaluate each applicant. The admission policy stresses the importance of admitting students from families who are strongly committed to the philosophy of the school. Other considerations include class size, ability to meet student needs, and potential for an excellent partnership between home, church and school.

  • What is your Wait Pool and how is it managed?   Our wait pool is made up of those applicants who have qualified for admission but there were no available spots. Our wait pool is not a “list” with a position ranking (1,2,3…) but rather a “pool” of applicants that are all reviewed should an opening become available.

  • Do the students have to wear uniforms? What is the dress code?   OCS does not require uniforms. The goal of dress code is to be neat, clean and modest. The details of dress code are addressed in the school handbook which is available on our website. Generally the students are allowed a great deal of freedom and individuality with regards to dress code. The administration addresses issues of concern each year.

  • What kind of activities do you offer?   The elementary program offers enrichment activities including music, technology, PE, library, and art. The secondary program offers a wide range of activities entailing service, academics, sports, the arts, media center and social activities.

  • Is church involvement expected?   Yes, OCS is partnering with Christian families and there is an expectation of regular church attendance. The home, the church, and the school form the training ground for whole person development to glorify God.

  • Is OCS affiliated with a particular church or a denomination?    No, OCS is an independent incorporation operated by a Board of Trustees. OCS is an interdenominational school with over 60 different church congregations represented in the student body and faculty.

  • Do parents get involved in the school?   The Saints Parents Organization is a very active part of the home and school partnership. Many parents are involved through the SPO, Barnabas Club, and co-curricular activities as they exercise their gifts, talents, and abilities to support teachers and students.
